Over four days (August 20–23), nearly a thousand shooters from 40 countries around the world had to hit 200 targets flying along various trajectories at the San Martino shooting range. R. Užukauskas hit 189 and after an additional shooting series with Spaniard Francisco Rosa Ponce (24–22) won third place in the youth category, surpassing more than seventy competitors. This result was the best in the entire Lithuanian delegation, which consisted of 18 shooters.
The first two places in the youth category were won by Italians Mattia Degliantoni (191) and Samuel Ligi (190).
In the overall ranking, R. Užukauskas took 51st place, and the absolute champion was Estonian Veikko Tihvanen, who hit 197 targets.
In the team ranking, composed of three shooters each, Lithuania (Žygimantas Šimaitis, Simas Petraitis, and Tomas Momkus) took 10th place among 24 teams. The Lithuanian team scored a total of 552 points. The hosts, Italians, won, hitting a total of 581 targets.
Vilnius native Virgilijus Grybė also returned from the competition with a personal award. Calculating the results of the World Cup, World, and European Championships, he was awarded the prestigious “Beretta” trophy in the seniors category. In the World Championship in this category, Lithuania’s most titled shooter V. Grybė took 15th place among nearly 200 competitors, hitting 184 targets.

Two Lithuanian representatives with international referee categories, Valentinas Juknevičius and Evelina Karčiauskaitė, officiated at the World Championship.
“Their participation among the referees of the highest-level competitions is a significant recognition of the Lithuanian sporting clays community and a substantial contribution to the development of international shooting sports,” said P. Strasevičius.
In the FITASC “Compak Sporting” event, shooting is done at flying targets in specially adapted fields, where five shooting stations are arranged in one line at distances of 3–5 meters, around which six target-throwing machines are set up.
Shooting at flying targets, also called shooting at clay pigeons, consists of various events where targets made of fragile ecological material are launched by special devices and shot with a smoothbore shotgun loaded with small pellets. This sport is very popular worldwide and accessible to a very wide audience – the age range of shooters is very broad – from 12-year-old children to masters over 75 years old.
