The World Championship battles will take place in Pūčkoriai, in two 18-basket disc golf courses set up in the Pavilniai Regional Park. The main course – the “Pilgrim” course – will stretch 2478 meters and lead athletes through open meadows, wooded slopes, and the surroundings of the Vilnia Valley.
The championship held in Lithuania will be unique due to several innovations. For the first time in the tournament’s history, athletes will compete in two groups – “Open” and “Masters.” Also, for the first time, the WFDF-organized world team championship will be held in cooperation with the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA).
“This is the highest-level flying disc sport event in Lithuania in history. And it is a huge recognition for our country and our federation as the organizer. We are very happy about this opportunity. We hope that this will not only contribute to the development of disc golf as a sport but also significantly increase its popularity. Of course, an event of this scale would be difficult without state support,” said the chairman of the organizing committee, Ričardas Zareckis.
In team disc golf, unlike regular individual tournaments, national teams compete for the world champion title. Countries face each other in singles and doubles matches, so not only individual player skill but also team composition, tactics, and the ability to secure victories in different matches are important.
Among the countries competing in Lithuania are the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Great Britain, Germany, Finland, France, Spain, Ukraine, neighboring Latvia, Estonia, and Poland, as well as Lithuania itself. Representatives from more distant countries such as Colombia and South Africa will also come to Vilnius.
The Vilnius championship will be the sixth world team disc golf championship. The first such championship was held in Canada in 2016, followed by championships in Great Britain, Estonia, Croatia, and Australia. In 2026, the event will be held in Lithuania for the first time.

Official training in Pūčkoriai is scheduled for September 6–7, and the first championship matches will begin on September 8. On the same day, an official opening ceremony will take place in Vilnius. The world champions will be determined on September 12, followed by a medal ceremony and closing ceremony after the final matches.
Even before the championship begins, on September 5, Vilnius will gather the most important representatives of the world’s disc golf organizations. The World Disc Golf Forum will be held in the capital, where representatives of WFDF, PDGA, national federations, and other organizations will discuss the future of the sport, international cooperation, and further development of disc golf.
The championship is organized by the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), in cooperation with the local organizing committee, which consists of “Team DiscCity,” the Lithuanian Flying Disc Federation, and the Lithuanian Disc Golf Federation.
