The KIA company has been writing its history since 1944, but initially did not manufacture cars. KIA started with steel parts, introduced the first Korean bicycle in 1951, later produced Honda motorcycles and Mazda light trucks under license. The first KIA brand cars, Brisa, based on Mazda models, appeared in 1973.
