UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in London. Downing Street informed dpa news agency about this.
According to journalists, the Ukrainian president will visit the United Kingdom on Sunday along with leaders of other countries.
“This follows a large-scale Ukrainian drone strike on Russia’s second-largest city, St. Petersburg, on Saturday, which highlighted Kyiv’s growing capabilities to strike deep into Russian territory. No casualties have been reported so far,” the statement emphasized.
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly rejected Zelenskyy’s proposal to hold direct talks on the war, which has been ongoing for more than four years, stating that he saw no point in such a meeting.
“The meeting of the so-called E3 countries with the Ukrainian leader is taking place because they are among Kyiv’s most loyal allies. The United Kingdom and France lead the so-called ‘coalition of the willing’, whose goal is to provide security guarantees to Ukraine during the peace process,” dpa reminds.
Latest statements by Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Earlier, the Ukrainian president stated that drones struck Russian naval arsenals and a base in Kronstadt, as well as an oil depot in Kuban. According to him, strikes on Russian territory are carried out because “the Russian leadership wants to wage war.”
“Last night, our drones covered approximately 1,000 kilometers to the St. Petersburg region, reaching enemy naval arsenals and a base in Kronstadt. Our long-range missiles also flew about 500 kilometers to the Krasnodar region and struck an oil depot,” said the Ukrainian leader.

Zelenskyy also evaluated Putin’s response to the open letter. He emphasized that Russia is once again choosing war.
“Everyone heard his answer today. A weak answer. He simply does not want to end the war. I think many in the world were disappointed by such an answer. He does not want to change anything and refuses to admit that his war is only liked by himself and those who make money from it – today they all smiled,” the president noted.
