Russia struck near the Polish border: gas station and trucks caught fire

Russian occupiers attacked a Ukrainian gas station (AZS) near the border with Poland, causing a fire, reports UNIAN.

Currently, trucks are burning near the “Jagodino” border checkpoint, local channels reported. According to them, the gas station and nearby parked trucks caught fire after the strike.
The international “Jagodino” border checkpoint on the Ukraine-Poland border is in the Volyn region, near the village of Starovoitovo in the Kovel district. On the Polish side, it is near the settlement of Dorohusk. It is one of the main automobile border crossing points between Ukraine and Poland.
Strikes on Ukraine
As reported by UNIAN, Russia has been trying to strike Western Ukrainian regions with drones since night. According to the Ukrainian Air Forces, Russia launched nearly 900 drones into Ukraine in the past day.
From 6 p.m. on September 12 until this morning, Russia attacked Ukraine with 453 strike drones. The Air Forces reported that 405 of them were shot down or neutralized.
Another 410 strike drones were launched by Russia into Ukraine yesterday. In total, 863 drones in 24 hours.
The attack is ongoing.
Air defense forces were active in the Khmelnytskyi region. A fire broke out on the territory of one company after debris from an enemy drone fell.

The US government is committed to supporting Ukraine, but during the full-scale Russian invasion, the aid has not always met Kyiv’s expectations. This was stated by former US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll at the Yalta European Strategy conference, reports “CBS News”. It is noted that this was his first public appearance since his resignation on August 31.
“US relations with Ukraine have not been as strong as you would like all this time, but in my view, the US commitment to ensuring your success has remained unchanged,” said D. Driscoll.
Moreover, Driscoll highly praised the military innovations created by Ukraine during the war, especially the DELTA platform. According to him, this platform surpasses any technologies currently possessed by the US military.
Driscoll noted that with increasing computing power and expanding Ukraine’s artificial intelligence capabilities, the country will have an “incredible opportunity to outpace the Russians, surpass them with innovations… and ultimately crush the opponent.”
He also warned of a “turning point in warfare,” noting that the world’s largest armies “have failed to implement necessary innovations quickly enough,” especially drones, whose new role has been clearly demonstrated by wars in Ukraine and Iran.
Driscoll and support for Ukraine
While serving as US Army Secretary, Driscoll participated, among other things, in US, Ukraine, and Russia negotiations in Abu Dhabi and Switzerland.
The reasons for his resignation were not made public. Unofficially, it is said that poor relations with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth may have been the cause.

A new stage of trilateral peace talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia may take place in October, said Presidential Office head Kyrylo Budanov on September 12, reports “Kyiv Independent”.
“We are preparing. For October,” Budanov told journalists in Kyiv during the Yalta European Strategy (YES) meeting organized by the Viktor Pinchuk Foundation.
Budanov confirmed that the talks would be in a trilateral format but declined to comment on the possible location of the negotiations.
This statement came as the US renewed diplomatic efforts to revive talks. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on September 9 that recent meetings of US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Kyiv and Moscow were businesslike. He expressed hope that they would help prepare for a new round of talks.
On September 6, S. Witkoff and J. Kushner met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European partners in Kyiv. The day before, US envoys held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
After the meeting in Kyiv, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to return to trilateral talks with the US and Russia aimed at ending the war. He also announced that the countries agreed to hold a separate further meeting involving representatives from Ukraine, the US, and European countries.
