Russia launched a massive attack on Odesa: drones and rockets flew, there are injured

The Russian occupying army attacked the Odesa region with drones and rockets. Electricity and water disappeared in the regional administrative center, many civilians were injured.
According to UNIAN correspondent, air danger was declared around 3:20 a.m. Monitoring channels warned that many drones and rockets were flying towards Odesa.
Soon explosions began to thunder in the city, and the attack lasted several hours. Russian drones flew over residential buildings, some at low altitude. During the attack, electricity and water supply were interrupted.
The head of the Odesa city military administration, Serhiy Lysak, confirmed on the Telegram platform that Odesa is being attacked by the enemy and, according to preliminary data, residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged.
At about 7 a.m., he reported that six injured people are known, who are receiving all necessary assistance.
“Residential buildings were damaged in several city districts. Cars also caught fire. All emergency and utility services are working at the incident sites. We are clarifying details,” emphasized S. Lysak.
The extent of electricity and water supply disruptions is currently unknown. The smell of burning is felt in the city, and local residents report fires after the strikes.
Witnesses on the Telegram platform also reported that a hotel “connected to a residential building” was damaged in the historic center of Odesa, on Europe Street. It is reported that a cat was rescued from the building.
Later, the head of the Odesa regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, clarified on Telegram that at least eight people were injured during the massive combined attack.
“The enemy used several dozen rockets and drones, damaging infrastructure and residential buildings. Odesa suffered the most. Several residential buildings were damaged and partially destroyed in two city districts. Cars were also destroyed and damaged by fires,” emphasized the official.
He noted that of the eight injured, doctors assessed seven as having moderate severity. Most of the victims suffered shrapnel wounds.
Rescuers, medics, and utility workers are working at the strike sites.
The press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine’s Odesa regional main department reported that the strikes caused major destruction and fires in several city districts.
Specifically, a four-story residential building caught fire in the center of Odesa, with cars burning nearby. The State Emergency Service added that the fire covering an area of 1,000 square meters has already been extinguished.

Two private residential houses were burning at another address.
“According to preliminary data, eight people were injured. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service worked at the incident site,” the announcement posted on Facebook reads.
Occupiers struck a 10-story building in Kharkiv: upper floors destroyed, there are casualties

On the morning of August 9, the Russian army launched an attack on the Saltivka district of Kharkiv. The Russians targeted residential buildings, the city mayor Ihor Terekhov reported.
The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported on the Telegram platform that an enemy drone struck a 10-story residential building and destroyed floors 7–10. Then another strike was carried out, hitting a nearby multi-story building.
Two people died during the attack, I. Terekhov reported on Telegram. One seriously injured person was urgently hospitalized, and doctors are providing all necessary assistance.
People are still trapped in the building, and a rescue operation is underway. Despite the constant threat of new shelling, all emergency services are working in an enhanced mode.
According to Bohdan Hladkykh, head of the Emergency Situations Department of the Kharkiv City Council, the number of people injured in the attack on Kharkiv has risen to 18.
In a comment to “Novini.Live,” he also noted that rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine evacuated 12 people from burning and smoke-filled apartments.
Turkey urges Russia and Ukraine to stop strikes in the Black Sea

After a series of attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea, Turkey’s foreign minister on Saturday called on Russia and Ukraine to declare a moratorium on strikes in the region.
Hakan Fidan urged in an interview with Turkey’s state news agency Anadolu to “create a mechanism allowing the declaration of a moratorium.”
“The conflict has spread across the entire Black Sea,” said H. Fidan.
“At first, they targeted ports and military ships. Now they attack all commercial vessels indiscriminately,” the minister added.
According to H. Fidan, among the targets were ships belonging to or flying the flag of Turkey.
Turkey condemned drone attacks on two Turkish civilian ships in the Black Sea the day before on Tuesday, in which several crew members were injured.
