The start of production marks an important milestone in electric truck transportation. The new Volvo FH Aero Electric and the new generation electric Volvo FH, FM, and FMX models allow electric transport to be adapted to many more transport tasks than ever before.

“We are now turning innovative technology into industrial reality. By starting serial production of our new electric trucks, we clearly demonstrate our commitment to being leaders in the transformation towards more sustainable truck transport,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “Customer response has been very positive, and we are seeing strong interest in ordering the new trucks. With longer ranges, very broad adaptability, and exceptional driving comfort, switching to electric transport is much easier.”

The Volvo FH Aero Electric, capable of traveling longer distances, is the flagship of the new series. Thanks to new electric axle technology, the truck can be equipped with larger capacity batteries and travel up to 700 km on a single charge. The ability to charge at megawatt power and the high payload capacity allow electric transport to be used on routes typically served by diesel trucks.

The new truck range also includes new generation electric Volvo FH, FM, and FMX models. These trucks feature a completely new electric drive system that improves energy efficiency, performance, and handling characteristics, with a range of up to 470 km. The exact range depends on external conditions such as air and wind resistance, as well as other factors like total vehicle weight and driver driving style.

The new electric trucks will be produced at Volvo Trucks factories in Sweden and Belgium.

From September 14–20, the new range of electric Volvo trucks will be presented at the international IAA exhibition in Hanover.

Volvo Trucks is a global leader in electric trucks and offers one of the widest ranges of electric trucks in the industry. The company’s eight electric truck models are adapted for various transport tasks – from goods delivery, waste management, and construction to regional and long-haul transport.
