One of the missiles Russia launched on Thursday night destroyed a private house in eastern Ukraine, and it is believed that ten members of the same family died.
An official from the Ukrainian rescue services told the AFP news agency that six deaths have been confirmed so far, and four more are considered dead, but their bodies still need to be officially identified.
“The Russians used their ballistic missile to destroy a simple house belonging to an ordinary family” in a village on the outskirts of Kryvyi Rih – the hometown of V. Zelensky – the Ukrainian leader wrote on social media earlier on Thursday.
“It was a simple house blown to pieces,” he wrote.
“The Voronov family: mother Olena, father Artem, seven children” and a grandchild, added V. Zelensky.
The youngest presumed victim was only one and a half years old, he emphasized.
The rescue service official said that 17 “body fragments” were found at the scene, and forensic examinations are ongoing.
“Preliminarily, it can be said that all 10 people who were in the house died,” Serhiy Kovtoniuk, a representative of the State Rescue Service in the Dnipropetrovsk region, told AFP.
Three people also died in Kyiv, Poltava, and Lviv, local officials reported.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a total of 74 missiles and 284 drones during the night bombing.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that strikes were carried out on Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, military communications, and logistics centers.
