„There are various versions, (…) really a lot,“ he added.

According to the head of the State Security Department, we need to wait for the investigation results, which should be clarified soon, possibly as early as Monday.

„The parameters we have recorded are very important. But there are other parameters that our experts and specialists should explain. They are working intensively, looking at how the opponent acted before the incursion (into Lithuanian airspace – BNS), during the incursion, and when the object had already left our airspace,“ V. Vitkauskas said.

As reported by the Lithuanian Armed Forces, at 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, military air force radars near Varėna detected an object crossing the country’s territory and entering the Russian Kaliningrad region. It is likely that it came from Belarus. The object flew about 60–70 kilometers in Lithuanian airspace.

On Sunday morning, V. Vitkauskas told LRT radio that it was most likely an unmanned aerial vehicle.

The military announced that the available data was insufficient to precisely identify what the object was, but no direct threat to Lithuanian residents or objects was detected.

As BNS wrote, in recent years, seven suspected Russian equipment-affected Ukrainian drones with explosives have flown into Lithuania.
