Pidington, located in central England 25 km from Oxford, does not have a single shop, but became famous across the country for its ironic vote on secession.

On Wednesday, the village council announced that after counting 312 ballots, 285 voters voted for secession from Britain due to plans to house asylum seekers in a nearby disused military area.
Residents were given a ballot with the statement: “I support Pidington seeking to secede from the United Kingdom and seeking the right to self-determination.”
“I think this result shows that Pidington activists have done an incredible job raising their concerns about the proposed asylum center,” Oxfordshire County Council leader Tim Bearder told the BBC.
