“Starting from January 1, 2027, “Via Toll” will allow the integration of common transport solutions such as OBU devices or fuel cards. Their integration will ensure a smoother and more convenient process for paying for the use of toll roads. In order for the providers of these solutions to prepare in time and be able to offer full-fledged services to their clients – freight and passenger transport operators – we invite you to contact us now and start preparing for integration,” says Martynas Gedaminskas, CEO of “Via Lietuva”.
As M. Gedaminskas notes, partner accreditation and the integration of solutions and services include not only technical programming work, but also document submission, permit acquisition, testing, and other administrative procedures, so full preparation may require at least several months.
“The first companies have already started the accreditation process, but we also encourage carriers themselves to inquire whether their partners are preparing to adapt their solutions to the “Via Toll” system, and to encourage them to do so. It is important for carriers that their usual solutions work without disruptions from the first day of the system’s operation and that they do not have to look for or install other alternatives,” says M. Gedaminskas.
All main technical documents and requirements for three partner groups have already been published on the “Via Lietuva” website:
• OBU (in-vehicle device) providers;
• European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) providers;
• fuel card providers.
In these documents, future “Via Toll” partners can find the system access procedure, technical requirements, description of testing processes, contract terms, data provision procedure descriptions, and other requirements.

“Via Toll” is being developed to make toll road administration as simple as possible for users – from journey registration to automatic toll calculation and payment.
Therefore, many telematics solutions used by carriers in their vehicles, such as various OBU devices, are compatible with this system. It is important that the providers of these solutions or services are accredited by “Via Lietuva” for integration with the new “Via Toll” system.
In addition, those M2, M3, N1, N2, N3 category transport operators who do not use such solutions will be able to record their routes and pay the toll by downloading the “Via Toll” app or by purchasing advance travel tickets. This means that carriers will be able to choose the most suitable method of use for their operations, and in most cases, no additional equipment will need to be installed.
About the “Via Toll” system
The electronic road toll system “Via Toll” will start operating on January 1, 2027. It will replace the currently used vignettes and calculate road tolls based on the actual distance traveled on toll national roads. The system will apply to M2, M3, N1, N2, and N3 category vehicles intended for freight and passenger transport.
