„You cannot leave everything only to the fiscal cushion, without seeing what the situation is for the current seniors,“ he said.
Last autumn, the President submitted a proposal to the Seimas that an additional 20 to 75 percent of the planned positive cash flow result of the “Sodra” budget be allocated for indexing the individual pension part.
The initiative passed the submission stage, but the Government has not yet provided a conclusion on the draft law.

According to V. Augustinavičius, conclusions from the Government are also awaited regarding two other presidential initiatives – the activation of deposits and the personal income tax (PIT) relief to encourage birth rates.
G. Nausėda proposes that a bank client wishing to activate their deposits voluntarily agrees to have a special current account opened for them, and the funds – up to 2500 euros – would be allocated to the economic growth and economic progress financing program.
Meanwhile, to encourage birth rates, the proposed changes provide for a temporary zero PIT on the salary part up to one average wage (VDU) for the birth of the second and subsequent children. It is proposed that the incentive also apply to adoptive parents.
