As UTMA undergoes changes in the sports section and aims for the highest international standards by establishing fixed weight categories, the changes have also affected the 77 kg weight category, which had a champion.

“Unfortunately, the 77 kg category is disappearing because we have the 75 and 81 kg categories overlapping. Our internal decision was to eliminate this category. This means that Krilavičius loses the champion belt, which is being discontinued in the UTMA organization, it is what it is, we can only regret his situation,” commented UTMA head Viktoras Gecas.
Soon UTMA will announce the new weight categories and their new rules, and during this process it became clear that the 77 kg weight category will no longer exist in the organization, and at the same time the champion status is lost by the “Sparta” club fighter Raimundas Krilavičius (4-1, 1 KO UTMA).
R. Krilavičius began his journey in UTMA back at the UTMA 2 event with a victory in an MMA fight. He returned to the organization’s fights at UTMA 9, when he defeated Dovydas Rimkus and since then has been fighting under kickboxing rules.
R. Krilavičius got his championship chance at UTMA 17, where after a tough five-round fight he defeated and took the champion belt from Mantvydas Perednis.

“There is a saying in tennis – ‘lucky loser’. We can call Krilavičius’s situation that. He was lucky because he won that belt, won it in a uncompromising fight, after the judges’ decision. Soon you will see the presented weight categories, fighters will have to choose which one they will participate in.
Krilavičius chose the 75 kg category, where he can achieve very good results and surprise more than one opponent. I can’t wait to see his fight in the home arena in Vilnius on October 25,” said V. Gecas.
We remind you that it was M. Perednis who was the first UTMA 77 kg kickboxing champion – he won the belt at UTMA 15 when he defeated D. Rimkus.
