This was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). According to its statement, the minister thanked the US president and administration for their consistent efforts to secure the release of Belarusian political prisoners.
“The release of political prisoners is an extremely important humanitarian goal. We appreciate the leadership of the United States and the efforts made to restore freedom to people who were unlawfully imprisoned for their views and civic activities,” K. Budrys is quoted as saying in the statement.
