„Modern infrastructure solutions increase the reliability of level crossings, reduce the risk of operational disruptions, and allow for more efficient organization of traffic flows. This is an important investment both in traffic safety and in higher quality transport infrastructure throughout Lithuania,“ said Vytis Žalimas, head of „LTG Infra“, in a statement.
The main works at the Pravieniškės level crossing have already been completed, finishing and site landscaping works are underway. During the repair, the structures were renewed: the pavement and base were replaced, railway tracks within the crossing were dismantled and restored, as well as the road pavement.
Meanwhile, in Šiauliai, at the level crossing on Birutės Street, the works have already been completed – a ballastless reinforced concrete pavement was installed, road accesses were repaired, and drainage and rainwater systems were installed.
Currently, five more railway level crossings are being repaired – in Ignalina, Kaišiadorys, Kretinga, and near Priekulė and near Kaišiadorys, BNS reported citing „LTG Infra“.

In addition, the infrastructure solutions company „Fima“, commissioned by „LTG Infra“ for 5.6 million euros (excluding VAT), is essentially modernizing 14 priority level crossings with intensive train and car traffic. The company is expected to renew their signaling, install video surveillance cameras, and at some crossings – including pedestrian crossings – install obstacle detection and road condition monitoring systems as well as information display boards by October this year.
The level crossings at Panevėžys, Šilutė, Lentvaris stations and at Rūdiškės, Vinčai, Valkininkai, and Matuizai stops are being renewed, as well as crossings on the Kyviškės–Valčiūnai, Klaipėda–Rimkai, Kazlų Rūda–Vinčai, Skapiškis–Rokiškis, Rimkai–Vilkyčiai sections.
