“Tates in Moscow,” he wrote, adding a Russian saying: “Make new friends, but don’t lose the old ones.”
A.Tate and his brother became famous as members of the “manosphere” – a loose network of online communities united by hostility to feminism and the belief that society is biased against men.
Since 2022, a criminal investigation has been underway against both men in Romania. They have been charged with, among other things, creating an organized criminal group, human trafficking, trafficking minors, sexual relations with a minor, and money laundering. The brothers deny committing crimes.
British authorities have also charged the brothers with rape, grievous bodily harm, human trafficking, and organizing prostitution for profit. They also deny these charges.
The purpose of their visit to Russia is unclear, but some speculated that they might be planning to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which begins on Wednesday.
The brothers arrived in Russia after American right-wing commentator Candace Owens announced she would visit Moscow. Russian state media reported that she was expected to participate in a discussion on “family values” at the economic forum.
