However, even in Vilnius, companies maintaining the city had plenty of work. For example, “Grinda” shared news that there was as much water in the underground garage of one apartment building as fits into an Olympic swimming pool.
Images quickly appeared on social networks showing attempts to overcome this passage under the viaduct.

It took time to pump out the water
All Sunday, almost until midnight, drivers coming from the Vilnius suburban areas near Ukmergė road to the capital could not use the main route – under the Avižieniai viaduct.



Specialists from the company “Road Maintenance” managed to finish the work at this location only late on the evening of August 2, thus reassuring at least those who would face a difficult dilemma on Monday morning about where to find a convenient detour to reach the capital.
Vytautas Vansavičius, director of the Vilnius district municipality administration, does not hide that there was concern that the work might not be completed by Sunday evening and would have to continue on Monday.
