Previously, Ust Luga – the largest Russian port on the Baltic Sea and the second largest in the country after Novorossiysk on the Black Sea – was attacked on August 14.

This port is very important for exporting oil, oil products, fuel oil, aviation fuel, and gasoil.
According to news agency Reuters, in 2025 about 700 thousand barrels of oil per day were exported through this port, and a total of 32.8 million tons of oil products. It is noteworthy that after Ukraine’s strikes on Russian ports in the Black and Azov Seas, grain sellers also shifted their activities to the Baltic Sea, including Ust Luga.
