“Throughout her long life, Princess Astrid warmly and dutifully represented the royal family,” said a statement from King Haakon VIII.

It has not yet been announced when the princess’s funeral will take place.

King Harald’s funeral on Wednesday concluded the 13-day national mourning period following his death.

The ceremony at Oslo Cathedral was attended by his widow, 89-year-old Queen Sonja, as well as his son and heir King Haakon VIII with his wife Queen Mette-Marit and other members of the Norwegian royal family.

Before the ceremony, a national moment of silence was declared across the country. Representatives of royal families from around the world came to say goodbye to the king, including the Prince of Wales, who represented the king at the ceremony.
