“It would have been 6 years this fall since we met. Last weekend we celebrated our second wedding anniversary in cabins, with domes, she wanted it that way – just quietly with a few friends in nature. We left on Friday, we were supposed to go home on Sunday.
Friends were going home, and she said – let’s stay one more day, but we’ll take the other cabin, with a hot tub, where we could be alone, bathe. We spent time there, bathed… Some friends invited us to come, others too, but she wanted to stay here. The weekend was really nice,” Petras said on “TV Help”.
However, soon he saw a shocking sight.
“The last time we bathed was around midnight, we both went to bed. I jumped out of bed before six in the morning, Renata was not next to me, I looked – she was in the hot tub… Then I called for help, the police, ambulance,” Petras tearfully recounted how he found his wife dead.
After the autopsy, experts concluded that the woman died of heart failure. Despite this, some began to blame Petras for the tragedy.
“Since the very first day of the tragedy, I have been receiving accusations that I killed her,” the widowed man said on the TV3 show.
Moreover, Petras lamented that he could not retrieve his wife’s body and bury her where she wanted. They had already talked about what would happen to her after she died.

“When the father of her youngest children died suddenly a year and a half ago, we discussed this topic more than once. She said – Petras, if something happens to me in life, promise me you will take care of my children. She also said where she wanted to be buried,” Petras said on the TV3 show “TV Help” and added that he had promised his wife that she would rest eternally in her beloved place in Dzūkija.
However, Renata’s daughters complained about this – according to them, their mother wanted to be buried elsewhere.
When “TV Help” contacted the eldest daughter, she explained: “We have communicated with mom in the same way and she always expressed to us her wish to be buried together with her grandparents and deceased brother.”
Moreover, the daughter claimed that Petras allegedly abused her mother: “He was violent towards her throughout the marriage. There are many people who saw it.”
But soon R. Filejeva interviewed people from Petras and Renata’s circle – they said the couple’s relationship was exemplary, and the daughters did not take care of their mother.
Finally, Petras received good news from the prosecutor – the man was allowed to collect his wife’s remains.
