As has become customary, D. Trump last week threatened to strike Iran “very hard,” possibly carrying out attacks against civilian infrastructure, but later backed down, hinting that a peace agreement is near.
His latest comments on the social network “Truth Social” appeared a day after he indicated he was ready to increase economic pressure on Iran and seemed to back away from the decision to take further military strikes.
The news portal “Axios,” after a brief phone conversation with the president on Sunday, reported that D. Trump showed no frustration over Iran’s delay in reaching an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Since the start of the war, Iran’s blockade of the strait has fueled rising fuel prices and shaken the global economy, increasing pressure on the D. Trump administration ahead of the midterm elections in November.
D. Trump mentioned in his “Truth Social” post the 2000 attack on the US naval ship “USS Cole” and added that compensation should also be “paid to the families of hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters whom Iran has killed over the past 50 years.”
“I have instructed my representatives to firmly include this issue in any and all future negotiations,” he emphasized.
