The decision to grant the title of Honorary Citizen to Pastor K. Petravičius was made on Thursday by the Kretinga District Council, taking into account the proposal of the Kretinga District Honorary Citizen Title Awarding Commission.

Pastor K. Petravičius has been leading the Vydmantai St. John the Baptist Parish since 2016. During that time, he not only initiated the construction of a new church in Vydmantai but also united a large community of believers for this process. He also initiated the project to create a unique and the only amber altar in the world for the future church, inviting people from various countries to donate amber. In the Vydmantai chapel, the pastor established the Nely and Arvydas Paltinas memorial room-museum, which has become a center of attraction for pilgrims and culture enthusiasts. Next to it, a sound recording studio was set up, where projects and radio shows are created. K. Petravičius himself composes and performs songs, releases their recordings, paints pictures, organizes concerts and various events during which funds are raised for the church construction.
The clergyman’s activity is not limited to the parish alone. From 2017 to 2022, he served as the director of the Telšiai Diocese Youth Center, organizing Lithuanian Youth Days and other events that attracted thousands of young people.

The Honorary Citizen title awarding ceremony will take place on June 14 (Sunday), during the Kretinga city and St. Anthony’s feast celebration “Dream Kretinga 773” at the Church of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The title of Honorary Citizen of Kretinga District is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves by defending Lithuania’s freedom and independence, as well as by outstanding work and achievements for the Kretinga district community in the fields of economy, business development, healthcare, culture, art, education, sports, charity and support, journalism, crime prevention, environmental protection, long-term public activity, and other areas, for noble deeds and for promoting the name of Kretinga district in Lithuania and worldwide.
