The record-breaking “Octavia” became one of the main stars of the car show dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Škoda Motorsport. The Czech car manufacturer presented the history of this exceptional car.

The record-breaking “Octavia” was created in 2011
A special version of the Škoda Octavia was created in 2011. The project was initiated by the UK Škoda dealership, which wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the sporty Octavia RS.
The car development work was carried out by the British tuning company Revo Technik.
The base chosen was the Škoda Octavia A5. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine was equipped with a huge Garrett turbocharger, increasing its power to about 600 hp.
Interior trim details, sound insulation, and passenger seats were removed from the car. Instead, a safety cage was installed.
The car even needed a braking parachute
The car’s aerodynamics were also significantly improved. The Octavia was lowered, a spoiler and special wheel covers were installed.
However, stopping such a powerful car after driving at maximum speed was also a challenge. Therefore, a braking parachute was installed at the rear to help safely reduce speed.

The specially prepared Octavia team took the car to the Bonneville Salt Flats in the USA, where speed record competitions are regularly held.
British automotive journalist Richard Meaden took the wheel of the car.
On the first attempt, the Octavia reached 320 km/h, and the best result was even 367.97 km/h.
The average recorded speed was 365.45 km/h. At that time, it was a world record in the 2-liter engine car class.
After the record was set, the exceptional Octavia was kept in a private collection in the UK. It is very rarely taken to car shows and festivals.
The most interesting thing is that the record-breaking car still looks like a regular Octavia at first glance, but under its body hides a 600 hp engine and technology that allows it to reach almost 368 km/h.
