According to budget data, in this fiscal year, which began in October 2025, the US has so far refunded $81 billion, compared to just $5 billion during the same period last year. A Treasury Department official told reporters that this sharp increase is almost entirely related to the Supreme Court decision, and most of the refunds were made in May and June.
