About the horrific charges against priest Tadas Švedavičius (currently suspended from duties), announced on Tuesday at a specially organized press conference by the chief prosecutor of the Vilnius District Prosecutor’s Office, Justas Laucius.

According to the prosecutor, the clergyman is charged with 34 intentional misdemeanors, serious and very serious crimes: for molesting a person under 16 years of age, sexual assault of a minor and a young child, satisfying sexual desire violating the minor’s sexual autonomy and/or inviolability for payment, child exploitation for pornography, possession of pornographic material depicting a child, and involving a child in drunkenness.
J. Laucius also reported that another criminal case was transferred to the Vilnius City District Court in June, in which another Catholic Church priest is accused of possessing child pornography. According to the prosecutor, there are no victims in this case.

“It is simply about pornographic material depicting a child, or a person presented as a child. Here we are talking about visual artifacts,” said J. Laucius.
Urging to separate the cases
This priest – dismissed from the positions of pastor of the Rūdiškės Parishes of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Paluknys St. John the Baptist on June 11 last year, without appointment to any other positions, is 51-year-old Ryšardas Peciunas.
