“We collected information about missing people from district administrations and after verification clarified the number,” agency representative Shanti Mahat told the news agency AFP.
The day before, it was reported that 5,179 people went missing in this disaster.
According to the Disaster Management Agency, rescuers found and recovered the remains of 1,403 people, of whom 105 deceased were identified.
In China, according to state media, 43 people died and another 519 are missing.
Currently available data shows that during the deadly floods on the Nepal-China border caused by a mountain glacier collapse, a total of 1,446 people died in both countries, and at least 6,669 are missing. Among the missing are several hundred foreigners, including tourists and pilgrims.
Nepal has estimated that the costs of reconstruction after the floods will reach 4.78 billion dollars (4.1 billion euros).
