Today, we are very strongly and actively considering the possibilities of borrowing for the sector from ILTE, because now there is such an opportunity for the cultural sector to borrow if it is guaranteed by the Ministry of Culture,“ the minister said to LRT radio “Klasika” on Wednesday.

According to L. Alsys, only the largest and most profitable cultural institutions could borrow from ILTE, while also having the highest expenses and the largest infrastructure projects.
„Those institutions with which we cooperate or communicate could manage either their infrastructure or renew it and thus could generate greater profitability. That means they could provide new services, attract more people, create new products,“ he asserted.
According to the Minister of Culture, at the same time this would allow budget funds to be allocated to other, smaller cultural institutions.

„Such consideration exists, and we are working on this issue very intensively. However, we also have to understand the risks, because a loan is something that we have to repay and we have to assess absolutely all risks,“ said L. Alsys.
„God forbid, it will not be a ministry imperative that there is an opportunity to borrow and someone now should borrow. There will be very close cooperation with those institutions,“ he emphasized.
According to the Minister of Culture, currently the cultural sector is living in a saving mode, and he hoped that next year’s budget would find more funds for this sector.
