As BNS reported, the Mažeikiai municipality, the project is funded by the municipality’s funds, but additional funding is being sought.

“The municipality will submit the project implementation plan to the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) upon invitation,” the municipality told BNS.
On August 20, the district council approved this. At least 71% of the project costs would be financed by the municipality’s funds, and 29% from the state budget.
“Upon project implementation, the quality of sports infrastructure and its accessibility in the municipality will be improved, creating better conditions for the development of sports activities,” said Laura Gaurilavičienė, head of the Strategic Planning and Investment Department of the municipality, at the council meeting.
As Alma Tupikienė, head of the municipality’s Communications Department, told BNS, once funding is secured, construction is expected to be completed in 2027, and the entire project implemented by the end of 2028.
Last March, the municipality signed a preliminary construction contract with the construction company “Infes”.

The municipality informed BNS that a two-story building of more than 10,000 square meters is being built on Sedos Street according to the architectural concept “Kalva”.
The main multifunctional event hall for more than 2,000 spectators will be located on the first floor, as well as a pool and SPA area; on the second floor – sports halls and administration premises with a conference hall and two VIP zones. Three halls are planned to be adapted for various sports – aerobics, wrestling training, dance lessons, and gym equipment.
There will also be a 25-meter-long, four-lane swimming pool with a movable bottom, a pool adapted for children, therapeutic and recreational pools, two saunas, and an “ice” room.
As BNS wrote, this is not the first time an arena has been attempted to be built on Sedos Street – in October 2018, the municipality signed a contract worth 12.94 million euros for its construction with the company “LitCon”, but it was terminated due to insufficient funding from the state.
