Each group has been designed with separate educational and rest areas, featuring individual exits to the inner courtyard, which includes play and relaxation zones. The institution also has specialist offices, a multipurpose hall, a kitchen, and other necessary spaces.

Kindergarten director Ingrida Ramanauskaitė-Markevičienė assures that there is no need to worry about unfinished work – the institution is fully prepared to welcome the little ones.

“It seems like it was just a construction site here recently, and today we are already waiting for the children. We want them to feel safe, welcomed, and at home from the very first day. We are doing everything from the start with great warmth and love to meet the expectations of Kaunas residents – both children and adults. Together with the whole team, we are very eager to start creating the history of this kindergarten,” the director said happily.

The new kindergarten was built according to modern energy efficiency and accessibility standards, paying great attention not only to the building but also to the environment where children will spend most of their day.

“Medeina” Primary School

Simultaneously, both branches of the “Medeina” school-kindergarten in Aleksotas – M.Yčo 2 and Dvarų St. 49 – were prepared for new life, with work starting in spring 2025. The school on M.Yčo Street will house 12 primary classes.

“Education is one of those areas where the result is measured not by the number of buildings but by how children feel here. Today we can say – the work is finished, the doors are open, and next week the modern and safe spaces will be filled with the laughter of children.

This is one of our most important investment directions; we want the city’s children to be able to learn, grow, and create their first memories in a contemporary and modern environment,” emphasized Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis.

The learning environment has been completely transformed – modern classrooms with height-adjustable furniture, air conditioning systems, specialist offices, renovated sports areas, showers, and separate changing rooms have been installed, and a buffet-style dining system has been introduced in the cafeteria.

Special attention has also been given to children’s safety and comfort. Students and staff will only be able to enter the school grounds with special electronic passes, electric blinds have been installed in classrooms, acoustic solutions have been implemented indoors, and sound tests have been conducted.

The school is equipped with an elevator to ensure convenient movement for people with disabilities, and outside, children will find sports and relaxation areas.

Kindergarten Revival

The “Medeina” nursery-kindergarten located on Dvarų Street has been completely transformed after renovation. Previously, there were only three groups educating 60 children, and the building area was just 365 square meters. Now, nearly 1850 square meters of space houses 11 groups.

“When I look at the current result, it’s hard to believe how much everything has changed. Now we have spaces we could only dream of before. Everything is prepared from A to Z, and we will start at full capacity. We are very happy and most of all looking forward to the children,” said Larisa Bukinienė, director of the “Medeina” school-kindergarten.

The building will have four nursery groups, one pre-school group, and six preschool groups. Each has separate educational, rest, and play areas. The kindergarten is also adapted for children with various needs – there is a special sensory room, and a sports hall dedicated to children’s activity, which also serves as an assembly hall.

The outdoor areas have also changed significantly – colorful playgrounds, a dome for various activities, separate play zones, and gazebos for each group have been installed.

The kindergarten also takes care of the kitchen – food will be prepared on-site. A full staff team has been assembled, already waiting for the little ones from Kaunas.
