Besides the meeting, ministers’ meetings with local community representatives, a visit to Klaipėda University, participation in lectures, as well as a planned meeting of Government members with regional municipality mayors and politicians are scheduled.

So far, the agenda of the outgoing meeting and the entire visit program have not been announced. However, it is certain that issues important not only to Klaipėda but also to the entire seaside region and the port will be discussed in the Cabinet of Ministers.

At that time, the Cabinet of Ministers’ agenda paid much attention to the problems of the seaside region and the development of resorts.

One of the most important issues was the restoration of the Šventoji port.

The Government approved amendments to the Šventoji Sea Port Law, by which the port land, water area, and infrastructure were transferred by trust to the Palanga city municipality. This created conditions for the municipality to start real port restoration works and seek European Union fund support.

By the way, next week – on September 11 – the ceremony for the start of the construction of the Šventoji sea port breakwaters is planned.

In the same meeting, almost a decade ago, the issue of transferring the Palanga concert hall to the municipality was also resolved. The hall, which belonged to the state, was transferred to the local municipality’s ownership to ensure more effective management and the development of cultural activities.

At that time, the Government also paid attention to the condition of the ponds of the Amber Museum in the Palanga Botanical Park and the financing of their cleaning. Resort development issues were also discussed.
