Officers of the Jurbarkas District Police Commissariat checked a car “Volkswagen Golf” driven by a resident of Jurbarkas district in the town of Eržvilkas.

The driver told the officers that he was not transporting any prohibited items or substances in the car.
Continuing procedural actions, a search was also carried out at the driver’s residential homestead.
However, after inspecting the vehicle, the officers found three plastic containers in the engine compartment, under the car’s hood. They contained about 15 liters of possibly strong homemade alcoholic beverage – moonshine.
On July 7, continuing procedural actions, during searches at the driver’s residential homestead, officers found more possibly homemade moonshine.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched at the Jurbarkas District Police Commissariat regarding the incident under Article 201, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania.
The pre-trial investigation is led by the Marijampolė District Prosecutor’s Office of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
