The message about Russia’s future at the forum was presented by businessman Konstantin Malofeev, known as one of the main supporters of the Igor Girkin group that invaded Donbas in the spring of 2014. One of the co-authors of the work is the far-right public figure Alexander Dugin, considered the main creator of the “Russian world” ideology.
The report presents three possible scenarios for Russia’s future.
The “bad” scenario predicts Russia’s defeat in the war with Ukraine (which the authors consider a war with the West) and the alleged “colonization” of Russia by 2050. The publication does not specify what exactly this “colonization” would mean.
The second – “inertial” scenario – means that the situation develops as it is now. In this case, according to the authors, US and Chinese hegemony would be established in the world.
The third – “good” scenario – foresees a “clear image of victory in the ideological war.” On the way to this victory, the possibility of using nuclear weapons and Russia’s occupation of Crimea, Odessa, Kharkiv, and other Ukrainian territories is mentioned. This scenario also predicts the collapse of the European Union.
According to K. Malofeev, a comprehensive restructuring of state governance is necessary to counter threats to Russia. He highlighted “ideology” in first place, “elite nationalization” second, and “autocracy” third.
A. Dugin stated that there is constant discussion in the Russian president’s administration about the need for a state ideology. According to him, autocracy already exists in Russia, but its “legitimization is happening slowly.”
As “Agentstvo” notes, although neither K. Malofeev nor A. Dugin hold official government positions, their participation in the most important Russian economic forum shows that their ideas are in demand in the country’s political elite.
