In Vilnius at noon, a commemoration will take place near the chapel dedicated to the Baltic Way in Šeškinė, where the community ensemble “Godos” will perform patriotic songs, and there will also be kite workshops and bracelet making. The event will be held in the renovated square near the chapel.

On August 23, 1989, one section of the Baltic Way in Vilnius stretched through Šeškinė. This historic event is commemorated today by the chapel standing next to Ukmergė Street, dedicated to the unity and freedom aspirations of the Baltic peoples.
The Lithuanian National Museum invites you on Baltic Day to return to where it all began: Gediminas Castle Tower was the place where people started joining the living chain stretching from Vilnius to Tallinn.
On August 23 at 3 p.m., a new exhibition “Frequency of Freedom” will open to visitors at the Lithuanian National Museum branch in Gediminas Castle Tower (Arsenalo St. 5, Vilnius). It reveals the history of freedom struggles as a recurring frequency – from 19th-century uprisings and independence fights to the Baltic Way, the January events of 1991, and today’s threats. On Baltic Way Day, visitors to Gediminas Castle Tower will also enjoy special activities for the whole family from 3 to 5 p.m.
Educators at Gediminas Castle Tower will conduct short tours of the new exhibition at 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, and 4:30 p.m.
Visitors will be able to make a Tricolor bracelet and a commemorative badge – which can be taken home as souvenirs of Baltic Way Day. The special activities will be free of charge, no advance registration is required – only a ticket to Gediminas Castle Tower is needed.

In Kaunas in the evening, a free concert will take place on the roof of the Science Popularization Center “Science Island” on Nemunas Island, featuring Linas Adomaitis and the Kaunas Big Band.
In Klaipėda’s Sąjūdis Park from noon, there will be a program by the Naval Forces, a BMX bike show, a demonstration of the Air Force rescue operation, and a meeting with racer Rokas Baciuška. In the evening, a concert will be held featuring Dovi Mi, Sauben, and the band “Vairas”.
In Panevėžys at 10:30 a.m., a Holy Mass will be held at Christ the King Cathedral for Lithuania and its people, remembering the victims of totalitarian regimes and the unity and freedom aspirations of the Baltic Way participants.
In Šiauliai, the commemoration will begin at noon with a Holy Mass at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. Afterward, there will be a procession with the flags of the Baltic countries to the Sun Dial Square, where Raminta Naujanytė-Bjelle and the Lithuanian Symphony Wind Orchestra will perform. In the evening, at the “Laiptai” gallery in the historic Bugailiškiai obelisk garden, an exhibition of works from the international sculptors’ creative workshop “Baltic Nights” will open, followed by a concert by Antanas Jasenko.
On August 23, 1989, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the signing of the pact, during a protest action called the Baltic Way, about two million Lithuanians, Latvians, and Estonians joined hands forming a living human chain over 650 kilometers long from Gediminas Tower in Vilnius to the Hermann Tower in Tallinn.
