As reported by the Lithuanian Armed Forces on Monday, the exercises took place on August 8–9 in the vicinity of Jēkabpils, Latvia.

During them, Lithuanian and Latvian soldiers trained to operate together, improved combat skills, and strengthened mutual interaction. The main goal of the exercises was to improve soldiers’ readiness to conduct territorial defense of Latvia and their ability to effectively cooperate with Lithuanian KASP soldiers.
In the exercises, soldiers of the 5th KASP Battalion were assigned wheeled armored vehicles “Patria” used by the Latvian army. The soldiers trained to operate in the exercise area according to the planned scenario and were prepared to act as an independent squad.
During the two days of exercises, soldiers of the 506th infantry company together with Latvian soldiers carried out various tactical tasks: patrolled as a motorized squad, set up mobile control posts, and demonstrated tactical actions in a populated area.

Special attention was paid to command and control procedures, rapid information exchange, and providing mutual support when operating together.
The National Defence Volunteer Forces closely cooperate with the Latvian National Guard.
According to the army, Lithuanian and Latvian soldiers are connected not only by joint tactical exercises but also by various sports and cultural events – regular joint training and common tasks strengthen mutual trust, improve mutual understanding, and help prepare for conducting joint defensive actions if necessary.
