“The staircase collapsed, so the roof of the building had to be opened with a crane,” the police said, adding that five people are still considered missing.
According to the officers, 14 people managed to escape from the burning building.
Eight of them were injured, including two in serious condition, they said.
The injured were taken to hospitals in Graubünden and Zurich.
About 100 firefighters were sent to the scene, who were still extinguishing the fire on Friday morning.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire. According to the police, the fire broke out on the second floor of the building.
A photo released by the police shows a multi-story apartment building engulfed in smoke, with flames bursting out of several upper floor windows and the roof.
