Two separate pre-trial investigations were conducted – in Šiauliai regarding possible criminal acts under Articles 167(1) and 168(1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania, and in Kaunas regarding a criminal act under Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. During the investigation, these pre-trial investigations were merged to ensure a faster and more thorough inquiry. By the decision of the Deputy Prosecutor General, the Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office was assigned to organize and lead the investigation.
The pre-trial investigations were initiated in police institutions upon receiving statements from the minor’s temporary guardian concerning possible violations of the minor’s rights and legitimate interests by publicly disclosing sensitive information, as well as possible disclosure of pre-trial investigation data.

The decision in the process – the ruling to terminate the pre-trial investigation – assesses that it was not established that information about the minor’s private life was collected unlawfully or that pre-trial investigation data was disclosed without the permission of the judge, prosecutor, or pre-trial investigation officer handling the case.
