The man was stopped at night and “later detained on serious suspicion of committing a crime,” according to a statement from the Argau canton police.

It adds that “at this stage it is believed that the attack,” during which an Italian citizen was killed early Sunday and five others were injured, several seriously, was carried out by a single attacker.
“Investigations are currently underway regarding the exact sequence of events, circumstances, and possible motive,” the officials said.
Shots rang out early Sunday morning, at the end of the annual rave at the racetrack in Aarau, the capital of the northern Swiss canton of Argau.
After this attack, an international manhunt for the shooter was launched.
Earlier on Monday, the canton police said in a statement that partygoers were preparing to go home when several shots were fired into a group of people.

A 22-year-old Italian woman was killed.
“She died immediately despite attempts to resuscitate her,” the police reported, adding that five others were injured.
On Sunday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that two Italians were among the injured.
However, Argau police reported on Monday that the injured were four Swiss and a German woman, aged between 24 and 31 years.
They were taken to the hospital “due to injuries ranging from minor to serious,” the police said.
