Holiday dates have already been confirmed earlier in the General Education Plans after consultations with the education community. When coordinating corrections to the General Education Plans, there were no proposals to change the spring holidays.

According to the ministry, the spring holiday schedule for upper-grade students is intentionally set a week later. This decision was made considering the observations of students and teachers that the speaking parts of exams should not take place during the holidays.
“Holidays for children should be a time for rest, stepping back from studying, and regaining strength, not another exam week. Therefore, as in previous years, students in grades 11–12 will take the speaking parts of exams while younger students are on holiday, and then they will have their spring holidays. This aims to ensure that graduates also have a real, quality rest after important challenges,” the statement reads.
“We understand that different holiday times may cause additional planning issues for families. However, this decision primarily aims at the well-being of students – so that exams do not take up their rest time, and the rhythm of studying and holidays is clearer, fairer, and better meets the needs of children. Especially since previously, when exams took place during all students’ holidays, students in grades 11–12 could not rest with their families because they had to take exams; this caused considerable tension,” the statement reads.
The decision, which was already in effect last year, allows for a clearer separation of exam time from students’ rest and better coordination of the educational process and students’ well-being needs.
