Spanish Ministry of the Interior: more than 48 thousand migrants returned to Morocco from Ceuta

The ministry stated in a message sent to the AFP news agency that as of 6 p.m. (local time, 7 p.m. Lithuanian time), 48,300 migrants had returned across the border to Morocco.

The escalation at the Spain-Morocco border began after an increase on Wednesday in migrants trying to reach this small enclave, mostly by swimming.

During this influx of migrants from Morocco to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, about 60,000 people entered, local regional president Juan Jesus Vivas told journalists earlier on Friday.
