The vocational teacher program will allow obtaining a V qualification level and will be designed to train vocational teachers who would conduct theoretical and practical vocational training according to vocational training programs, select vocational training content, teaching materials and tools for this purpose, and organize training according to students’ needs and inclusive education principles.

From September, vocational teachers will be trained by three vocational training institutions – King Mindaugas Vocational Training Centre, Klaipėda Ernestas Galvanauskas Vocational Training Centre, and Business and Hospitality Professional Career Centre.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (ŠMSM) announces that the vocational teacher program aims to attract not only new entrants but also already working vocational teachers. From September 1, 2027, the provision of the Law on Education comes into force, stating that all vocational teachers who do not have a pedagogical qualification will be required to acquire a vocational teacher qualification within four years from the start of their work.

Currently, vocational teachers only need to complete a short-term course in pedagogical and psychological knowledge. Already working vocational teachers will be able to have their vocational teacher qualification recognized by assessing their acquired competencies through non-formal means, self-education, and work experience.

Among other things, from September, specialists in a new vocational training field – environmental protection – will be trained for the first time. This program, according to the ministry, is designed to train qualified specialists who would be able to measure air, water, and soil pollution.
