In the Javier Imbrodos tournament in Melilla on Sunday, named after the famous Spanish basketball coach who also worked with the Lithuanian national team staff at the 1992 Olympic Games, Malaga basketball players crushed another Spanish team “Melilla” 105:67.
Simonas Lukošius, who represented Vilnius “Rytas” last season, signed a contract with “Dubai” in the summer but was loaned to Malaga’s team, scored 21 points in 23 minutes.
The 24-year-old shooter made 4 two-pointers out of 5, 4 three-pointers out of 7, and the only free throw. Simonas also grabbed 4 rebounds and made 4 assists, totaling 24 efficiency points.
Ignas Brazdeikis, who represented “Žalgiris” last season, added 20 points to the victory.
The 27-year-old forward played 24 minutes, made 6 two-pointers out of 8, 2 three-pointers out of 4, and 2 free throws out of 3. Ignas also grabbed 6 rebounds and made 3 assists. I. Brazdeikis’s efficiency rating was 27 points.
Only Kendrick Perry played more efficiently than the Lithuanians, scoring 19 points and making 9 assists, collecting 28 efficiency points.
The Malaga club, which acquired two Lithuanian basketball players in the summer, finished ninth in the Spanish championship last season and took third place in the FIBA Champions League.
