In the last two seasons – 2024 and 2025 – the Šiauliai city representative women’s team won exactly the bronze medals in the Baltic League. The last time the yellow-black team triumphed in this tournament was in the 2023 season.
The Lithuanian and Latvian champions may have to face each other next week at the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament in Denmark. The teams will not meet in the qualifying semifinals, but a confrontation could potentially happen in the qualifying final or the third-place match.

The second half started more actively for the Šiauliai team, but in the 54th minute, Gintra’s Kristina Pereviznyk was shown a red card for unsporting behavior, leaving the team with ten players.

With a numerical advantage, the Riga team took the initiative, and in the 63rd minute, after a long-range shot by the home team, the ball hit the crossbar.
In the 75th minute, the first goal of the match was scored by Riga Women forward Kumba Brima – 0:1.
Despite all the efforts of the representatives of the City of the Sun, they failed to restore equality, and the exposed defense at the end of the match cost the home team a second goal, scored by K. Brima, who completed a double – 0:2.
The final point in this match was set by Shiori Kato, who scored the third goal for the Riga team – 0:3.

The draw paired the Šiauliai city representative women’s team with the Scottish champion Edinburgh Hearts, the Danish champion HB Køge, and the team that will advance from the first qualifying round in Group 3. Four teams compete for this ticket, including the Latvian champion FC Riga, which has already reached the final of the first qualifying tournament.
Gintra’s footballers will face Hearts in the qualifying semifinals, while HB Køge and the team that advanced from the first qualifying round will compete for a place in the final in the other semifinal.
