“However, what Marco Rubio said in Congress about the US role not as a mediator, but as a country supporting Ukraine, shows the opposite: that Biden’s war has become Trump’s war,” he said.
The Russian Foreign Minister added that the “external environment” in the US is allegedly more positive because Washington advocates dialogue with Russia.
He recalled that after D. Trump’s return to the White House, dialogue between Moscow and Washington was resumed.

In his opinion, if the United States had truly sought to implement its initiative, military actions would have been stopped after negotiations.
“Given what Marco Rubio said – and with him (…) we discussed the situation in Ukraine just two weeks ago – given what he said about supporting Ukraine, there is essentially no longer any difference between the US and European approaches,” added S. Lavrov.
