“All are suitable because the flower itself is a sign of attention. It can be asters, dahlias, chrysanthemums, and roses – if the person likes roses, or wildflowers if that person prefers those.
And there are really many different flowers. And, I would say, nowadays it’s not so much the flowers themselves that are becoming popular, but combinations of meadow and garden flower styles, symbolic bouquets. These include various veronicas, verbenas, and in the last three years, the very popular scabiosa. For example, you can tie large-flowered chrysanthemums with sedges, etc.

Better to avoid large bouquets

That is why it is recommended not to choose gigantic bouquets, not to bring a bunch of roses or gladioli, but to limit yourself to a more minimalist, subtler bouquet or a single beautiful larger flower – for example, a hydrangea, which now comes in very beautiful vintage colors that have passed their peak bloom.
According to florists, if parents take care of the flowers and communicate with each other or if older students do it, the solution could be a large beautiful bouquet from the whole class, or if the tutor or teacher likes houseplants, which are very fashionable again now, to give exactly that.

How to keep flowers fresh when gifting?
Usually, families buy flowers for September 1st in the morning just before the start of the school year celebration. However, if you don’t have time in the morning, you can do it the day before.
According to florists, to prevent flowers bought in advance from wilting, it is important to know how to store flowers – this depends on the types of flowers themselves.
- When bringing flowers home, first cut the stems diagonally with a sharp knife and place them in fairly warm water, because cold water at high ambient temperature causes thermal shock to the flower, and such a bloom dies much faster.
- Then the vase with flowers should be placed in a dark, cool place in the house: it can be on a glazed balcony, if that is not possible, then the most important thing is that there is no draft in that place, and do not place flowers near the stove.
- You can also place the vase in a room, somewhere in a corner, on the floor. The bloom will grow a little overnight but will maintain its presentable appearance the next day.
How to tell if a flower is fresh?
If you choose the popular gladioli for September 1st, it is best to buy them not fully bloomed. You should look for those whose only the lower flower or a few lower flowers have opened, and most are still in buds. The remaining flowers will open in the vase, revealing their full beauty. According to florists, cut gladioli usually last longer than a week – 7-10 days, and sometimes even longer.
Another popular choice is roses. Properly cared for in a vase, they will bloom and delight for 10-12 days. However, it is important that they are fresh when purchased. When buying roses in a store or market, look for firm stems, non-dried leaves, firm petals, and flowers that are just beginning to open.
Avoid wilted stems, brown spots, damaged petals, and slimy stems. These are clear signs that the roses will wilt quickly.
