During this period, suppliers should be prepared to supply heat so that buildings are warm enough when the weather gets cold.

The cold season would be considered the period during which the average daily outdoor temperature for three consecutive days does not exceed 10 degrees Celsius.
When the cold season exceeds the heating season limits, it would also be considered part of the heating season.
The start of the heating season in buildings with non-modernized heat points, as well as in educational institutions or establishments, would continue to be decided by municipalities.

“More than 85% of heat points are modern and automated, so heating there can start based on the outdoor temperature,” said the Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas while presenting the amendments in Seimas.
According to him, there are several municipalities where all apartment buildings have been modernized – either the entire building has been renovated or at least the heat point.
The amendments also propose that from next year, bills for heat and hot water will be provided electronically, and paper letters only if consumers request them.
