The Energy and related laws amendments, prepared after the storm that devastated Lithuania on August 22, when electricity supply was disrupted for nearly 270 thousand consumers, were unanimously approved by the committee on Monday under expedited procedure in the Seimas.

The committee chairman and initiator of the amendments, member of the Democratic Union “For Lithuania” Algirdas Butkevičius, says that such practice is common in other EU countries and allows for faster restoration of electricity supply to consumers.
