M. Wewior urged the public to respect the privacy of the victim’s family and stated that the ministry and the Polish diplomatic mission in Ukraine are ready to provide all necessary consular assistance.

“With deep sadness, I confirm the death of a Polish volunteer in Ukraine; he died due to Russian military actions. We express our sincerest condolences to the deceased’s relatives,” M. Wewior told the PAP news agency.

Media reports named the victim as Marek Rusek-Wolski.

The volunteer’s death was initially reported on July 30 on the social media profile of the group “Together for Ukraine,” where he was an administrator. According to the organization, around July 27 in Kharkiv, the volunteer was fatally injured by a Russian drone.

Information from the volunteer’s personal Facebook profile shows that he frequently traveled to Ukraine carrying humanitarian aid, focusing mainly on residents near the Ukraine-Russia war front line.
