He hit her head against a tree, knocked her to the ground and strangled her until the victim lost consciousness, and then committed acts of sexual violence.
The Klaipėda District Court, as the first instance, examined in closed court sessions a criminal case concerning sexual violence and attempted murder “to express hatred based on gender”.
The accused Vidmantas Judeikis, who has been convicted 5 times, including for similar violent sexual crimes in the same forest park, attacked a girl walking in Dragūnai forest less than a week after being released from a correctional facility, dragged her deep into the forest, hit her head against a tree, knocked her to the ground and strangled her until she lost consciousness, and then committed acts of sexual violence.
The violent actions caused various injuries to the girl, and the cerebral circulation disorders that occurred during strangulation posed a real threat to the girl’s life, causing her to lose consciousness.
The man essentially admitted his guilt, but did not agree with the part of the charge that he attempted to kill the girl out of hatred for the female gender.
The court in the port city, after examining the evidence collected in the case and examined in the trial sessions, found that it was not established that the man had the intent or motive to kill the girl. The accused consistently denied throughout the process that he wanted or intended to kill the girl, stating that he used violence to sexually assault the victim.

According to the new verdict, the Klaipėda resident must serve 14.5 years in prison.
Considering the evidence collected in the case, and that it was not established that the violence against the girl was used for purposes other than sexual violence, the accused’s actions were qualified as serious bodily harm and sexual violence.
When sentencing, the court took into account that no aggravating circumstances were established, the mitigating circumstance – the accused essentially admitted his guilt for the crimes throughout the process and helped clarify the crime by giving testimony. It was noted that the person is unemployed, does not respond to long-term prison sentences imposed on him, systematically commits serious and very serious intentional violent crimes, including sexual ones, is being tried for the sixth time, committed a crime less than a week after serving a previous prison sentence, and is recognized as a dangerous recidivist.

The victim was awarded 10,000 EUR in non-pecuniary damages from the convict last year.
