Serious accident on the Alytus–Daugai road: a minibus and a passenger car collided.

On Tuesday morning, around 8:30 a.m., the Alytus County Chief Police Commissariat received a report about a serious traffic accident on the Alytus–Daugai road, near Daugai.
According to preliminary data, a minibus traveling from Alytus and a passenger car “Toyota” registered in the Republic of Poland moving from Vilnius collided with each other for unknown reasons.
The impact was very strong – after the collision, the minibus flew into a ditch and overturned, lying on its side.

All emergency services rushed to the scene: police officers, medics, and firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Service (PGT). Rescuers freed people trapped in the crushed vehicle. According to preliminary police data, no fatalities occurred, but two people were injured in the traffic accident and were handed over to medics.
Traffic on this section of the road is usually very heavy, and it is still difficult due to the recording of the accident circumstances and the removal of consequences.
While investigators and auxiliary services worked at the scene, drivers were advised to be very careful and, if possible, choose another route.
