Drone units of Ukraine’s 55th Brigade demonstrated several interception operations of Russian unmanned aerial vehicles, drawing attention to the increasingly used specialized interception drones designed to destroy enemy drones. The video was published on September 15 by Ukraine’s “East” operational command.

According to the command, Russian forces have started using new strike UAV “Molnija” modifications. These drones are increasingly becoming targets for Ukrainian interception drone crews. Their task is to destroy enemy drones before they reach their intended targets.

The use of interception drones provides Ukraine with a fairly flexible option to combat Russian drones. Instead of relying solely on traditional air defense systems, Ukrainian units can use smaller unmanned devices specifically designed to detect and intercept enemy drones.

The video also shows that the 55th Brigade destroys several other types of Russian drones. It is reported that since the beginning of September, its units have destroyed five BM-35 drones, each estimated to be worth about 22 thousand US dollars.

The brigade also reported destroying one Russian unmanned aerial vehicle identified as “Kniaz Veščij Oleg.” Its estimated value is about 100 thousand US dollars.
